Featured in Cycling Weekly’s Best Sportives near London, the Red Kite Ride 2024  will take place on Sunday 1st September.

We look forward to seeing all our loyal friends from previous years as well as new riders, after a terrific 2023 event that raised nearly £16,000 for local charities, and over £100,000 since its inception in 2012!

Organised and run entirely by unpaid volunteers at Marlow Riders Cycling Club, the Red Kite Ride is run by cyclists for cyclists to raise money for local charities. The sportive gives you a taster of the Chilterns, a top UK cycling destination. Beautiful rolling countryside, home to the graceful Red Kite, provides challenging climbs rewarded with sweeping descents.

In addition, we have our fabulous feed stations,  welcomed by our bubbly volunteers, with a range of savoury and sweet snacks and refreshing drinks. There may even be a friendly dog to pamper!

Once you have finished back at Marlow Sports Club and been cheered over the finish line, there is music from Marlow FM, cold Rebellion beer on tap, and lots of food on offer, from a sizzling BBQ to homemade cakes.

Routes and our charities will be refreshed this year so watch this space !!!

Entries this year have been held at £39 for the 3rd year with all funds, after our volunteer-led event costs, going directly to charity.

For entries before 1st May, there is a special early-bird entry fee of £35.

Online entries are now open so please come along and support us!

Routes 2024 – Jan 24 update : being refreshed !

The Red Kite Ride offers a choice of three routes over 50, 80 or 100 miles.

Whichever route you choose you will be cycling through some of the most picturesque parts of the Chilterns. This is the land of “Midsomer Murders”, “The Vicar of Dibley” and countless TV commercials. But it is also great cycling territory.

All routes start and finish at the Marlow Sports Club, with the first riders able to leave at 7.30am.

On your return you’ll receive a warm reception with medal and goodie bag. There will be a BBQ, hot and cold drinks, plenty of cake, and sounds from Marlow FM.

Marlow Riders and Location

The home of social road cycling in the Chilterns, Marlow Riders is an inclusive club, with something for most levels of cyclist, and about a third of our members are female. Our ethos is Cycling for All, no-one gets left behind on our rides, and there’s usually a coffee and cake stop, or a beer at the end!
